Surviving Relatives during the Holidays

Ram Dass said “If you think you’re enlightened, go spend a week with your family.” So true. While listening to Eckhart Tolle‘s A New Earth, he talked about how we can play “roles” with other family members.

Do you find yourself falling into the same patterns year after year with your family? Maybe you are tied to your role as daughter, brother, parent, or whatever.

This year, try something different. Simply show up as YOU. Your job as a loving relative isn’t to fix, give advice, or change anyone. It’s simply to accept and love.

Try that and see what happens. It works for me. (most of the time anyway, right mom???)
